Elite Skills




The Elite Groom is split into two pathways – Yard Manager and Travelling Manager. To achieve the Elite status you must show that you can perform all of the skills in the core section :

E.1 Plan and monitor routines
E.2 Plan and manage feeding
E.3 Manage finances
E.4 Monitor the health and well-being of horses
E.5 Purchase products and services
E.6 Manage facilities and supplies
E.7 Manage yard records
E.8 Make decisions
E.9 Prohibited Substances Awareness
E.10 Hold a full driving licence
E.11 Drive a lorry
E.12 Manage your own Continued Professional Development (CPD)

And then you must demonstrate that you are skilled in all of the skills statements of one of these routes. You can complete both routes if you choose!

Elite (Yard Manager):
EY.1 Build Teams
EY.2 Ensure a healthy and safe workplace
EY.3 Interview Prospective Employees
EY.4 Scenario Evidence

Elite (Travelling Manager)
ET.1 Before and at the competition
ET.2 Plan journey and make transport arrangements
ET.3 Prepare horse and equipment for journey
ET.4 Manage horse during transportation
ET.5 Experience Evidence
ET.6 (optional) Transporting horses by air



In addition you can apply for an Elite Stud Groom workbook. To achieve this endorsement you must complete all of the following skills:

ES.1 Establish and implement a breeding plan
ES.2 Control and organise the breeding of horses
ES.3 Establish and implement a horse rearing plan
ES.4 Manage and organise foaling
ES.5 Manage and organise the rearing of young stock
ES.6 Plan and organise the marketing and sale of horses
ES.7 Manage the preparation of horses for sale
ES.8 Supervise public and private sales
