The British Grooms Association is delighted to support the Mark Davies Injured Riders (MDIRF) in their 21st Anniversary Poundcatcher Campaign.
Poundcatcher Campaign aims to raise at least £1 from every rider and launched at Burghley on Thursday 3rd September.
The Mark Davies Injured Riders Fund is the only UK charity which helps all those injured in horse-related accidents and in need.
Lucy Katan, BGA Executive Director explained, "We are delighted to support the MDIRF in this campaign and hope that our members will too. Working hands on with horses can be a dangerous occupation and so supporting this excellent charity is very important as one day they might have to help one of our members in their time of need.
Grooms that work in the racing side of the industry can rely on the support of Racing Welfare, but for the rest there is little support or awareness... by working closer with MDIRF we would like to try to change this."
Rosemary Lang, The Fund’s Co-ordinator explained, “Every rider and handler of horses is aware of the associated risks and no matter how careful they are, accidents can occur and could happen to every single one of us. In recognition of this, we are asking the entire equestrian community to come on board and support us."
