The BGA has recently discovered that there is bad news for grooms hoping to get funding to do their LGV... at the moment there simply is none.
Executive Director, Lucy Katan, explained - " This is really very disappointing. We have worked very hard with training providers all over the UK to source funding streams for grooms to do their LGV training.
We are aware of many members who have managed to get themselves funding due to our earlier news stories, but since May we have been alerted to major difficulties with actually achieving funding. The main £'s were coming through the Young Driver Scheme (which has now finished) and the Train to Gain scheme, the latter appears to have been curtailed since the 2009 Government's Budget."
David Vincent from JLD Driver Training in Banbury said, "As a provider of NVQs we currently have no new allocation and I believe this is nationwide. I will keep you informed and should the situation change I would be happy to pick up from where we left off."
So there is hope, but for now we are afraid that if you wish to do your LGV you will have to save hard and pay for it yourself.
