MAKE YOUR VOICE COUNT!
**THIS IS THE LAST CHANCE TO HAVE YOUR SAY ... PLEASE TAKE TIME OUT TO COMPLETE THIS IMPORTANT QUESTIONAIRE - FINISHES ON 15th MARCH**
We're all familiar with the census every decade and now Lantra, the Sector Skills Council for the environmental and land-based industries is taking the concept one step further with an online
Equine Skills Census.
The Equine Skills Census is aimed at fully realising an accurate size and scope of the equine industry and will seek to understand what training, skills and employment issues face those working within this field.
Lucy Katan, Executive Director of the British Grooms Association said, “I think this research will show that the equine industry is not a hobby—it is a real career and needs to be recognised and supported as a viable industry. I encourage all who work with horses to take their chance to be counted and complete the online research.
Never before have grooms had the chance to get their voice heard in such a structured research project, so please do not waste this unique opportunity – it takes less than five minutes.”
In addition to the online employee questionnaire, there will be a survey and possible focus groups with equine business owners. Any employer wanting to support this research can register their interest on
Lantra’s website
Amy Cosgrove, Lantra’s Manager for the equine industry added, “It's such an important piece of research for the industry. Official statistics have critically underestimated the number of businesses and individuals working with horses, so we hope this Equine Census will show how large the industry really is and outline the skills needs of those working with horses.
We are relying on businesses and employees to make the most of the Equine Skills Census. If we can get to grips with its actual size and scope of this underestimated field, there will be greater chances to get support for businesses and employees and raise this industry on the list of government priorities.”
Those who take part in the initial online employee survey will be
entered into a draw for tickets to the British Open Show Jumping
Championship.
