Shining for Cancer Research
British Grooms Association cover girl, Katie Clark, is preparing to take part in the 26 mile Shine Marathon to raise money for Cancer Research – a charity she feels she owes her life to.
Katie, 30, previously worked for Henrietta Knight and in 2008 won the Special Merit/Hero Award at the British Stud and Stable Staff Awards. Photogenic Katie subsequently became the original BGA cover girl and remains a proud BGA member and Area Representative.
Suffolk based Katie has suffered from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system and after relapsing for the third time is now in remission and currently concentrating on building up her strength in time for this gruelling challenge.
The Shine Marathon takes place in Manchester, on 17th of April 2010, and runs through the night from 10pm. “I am excited about the marathon but also quite worried as it's a very long way. This is a HUGE challenge but the charity is very important to me and I feel I owe my life to them” explains Katie.
“The charity is close to my heart as I have been fighting Hodgkin’s disease since 2005. I have had to have many different treatments including chemotherapy, radiotherapy and a stem cell autograph and a stem cell transplant, all of these I know would not be available if it wasn't for Cancer Research” explained Katie.
“If anybody has a few spare pennies in their pocket and would like to sponsor me please visit my link” added Katie. If you would like to sponsor Katie please go to
