Minimum Wage to rise in October 2010

NEW National Minimum Wage (NMW) rates


In March 2010, the previous Government published their response to all the recommendations in the Low Pay Commission's 2010 report.  It agreed that there will be:
  • An increase in the adult rate of the NMW from £5.80 to £5.93
  • An increase in the youth development rate from £4.83 to £4.92
  • An increase in the 16-17 year old rate from £3.57 to £3.64
  • A new minimum wage of £2.50 per hour for apprentices who are either under 19 or in the first year of their apprenticeship
