Sixteen grooms at an equine welfare charity in Bristol have all become members of the British Grooms Association (BGA) this month in recognition of their dedication and professionalism.

Jessie Rushbrooke, a welfare training groom at HorseWorld, said: “The BGA is a great organisation that recognises the importance and professionalism of grooms working within the equine industry. I am really happy to be a member and would urge others to join.”

Lucy Katan, Executive Director at the BGA, explained: “We are delighted to welcome the grooms from HorseWorld as members of the BGA. Welfare Grooms are skilled and dedicated individuals, and their professionalism deserves to be recognised.”

HorseWorld has three teams of grooms. The animal husbandry grooms help bring the equines in the charity’s care back to full health. The equine training team trains the horses to bring back their physical and psychological health, and prepares them for re-homing to permanent homes. HorseWorld is responsible for the care of nearly 500 equines, giving them the safe and happy futures they deserve, free from pain or neglect.

Sasha Holden, Equine Training Manager at HorseWorld, said: “We are delighted that HorseWorld has agreed that the grooms can become members of BGA. It is a very positive step for employers to take in recognising the importance of the role of grooms within the equine world.”
