EQUESTRIAN ENTREPENUR REACHES FINAL OF YOUNG BUSINESS AWARD
Lucy Katan, founder of the British Grooms Association (BGA), has been recognised in her business achievements having reached the final for the prestigious Oxfordshire Business Link Young Business Person of the Year Award.
Just twelve months ago former British Dressage Team groom Lucy Katan, launched the world’s first association for equestrian grooms, a ‘Social Enterprise’ that aims to improve the recognition and support for the backbone of the equestrian industry, something which the industry has previously lacked.
”For many years grooms have been the forgotten heroes and heroines of the horse world. I saw that something needed to be done, and I did it!” explains Lucy who managed to realise her dream due to £25,000 worth of funding from UnLtd*, the Foundation for Social Entrepreneurs.
Due to Lucy’s passion and dedication to the business, the association has grown rapidly.
The Oxfordshire Business Link Awards aim to recognise and support the county’s top business performers and are seen as a benchmark for excellence within the business industry, “To have reached the final in this prestigious competition is really exciting and I think it shows how needed the BGA is. It makes me very proud to know that I have made a difference to the grooms world” adds Lucy.
The final, which is due to be held on the 20th June 2008, sees Lucy take on Tim Joslyn from IT company, Dilgenter Ltd and Ross Elder of Holiday Lettings, a marketing company for holiday homes.
