Burghley Grooms Prize
Burghley has a long history of awarding a grooms prize, thanks to the kind support of Mountain Horse.
This year all the grooms had their work cut out as they had an enormous amount of mud and rain to cope with! However, of course all the horses looked immaculate and at the final vets inspection 1st and 2nd prizes were awarded to:
1st was Jo Spence, groom to Georgie Spence and Running Brook II. Jo is actually Georgies mother and said, " I have been grooming for Georgie forever. Ever since she sat on her first pony. I do get a bit nervous. Georgie deals with me better than I deal with her The mud hasn’t been a problem, I just keep on cleaning!"
2nd was Fiona Russell, groom to Vicky Brake and Looks Like Fun. Fiona is a professional freelance groom and a BGA member !
The prize has been sponsored by Horsemasters Distribution (the UK wholesaler for Mountain Horse) for approx 17 years. The winning groom gets £200 and a Mountain Horse outfit. Second place gets £100 and pair of Mountain Rider boots.
