The grooms at the 2008 Blenheim Horse Trials are literally sinking in mud !
The whole of Blenheim has suffered from the excessive amount of wet weather that we have been having and the organisers have performed miracles to avoid cancellation.
The lorry park is like a ploughed field and on Wednesday just about all the horseboxes had to be towed in to park up; Sunday night is going to be interesting !
The one saving grace for the grooms (who reliably informed the BGA that following a very muddy Burghley....they are FED UP OF MUD!!) is that the organisers have provided them with excellent stables.
BGA Member, Fiona Russell explained, "If it was not for these stables I think there would be a lot of VERY grumpy grooms here. We are just so tired of the mud, it makes our job very difficult. These stables are just brilliant as they are all inside so we can keep the area outside our horses mud free. We had indoor temporary stables at Bokelo in Holland, and I think that organisers should consider using them more often."
