Would you like to be a jockey for a day ?
The UCSW (Union of Country Sport Workers) have invited a BGA Member to realise their dream and ride in a Charity Flat Race at Southwell Racecourse on Sunday 15th March 2009.
Rules: In brief, the rules are as follows (full details on application):
• There will be a maximum of 12 runners
• The flat race will be run under Jockey Club Rules held over approx 1m 4f
• The weight to be carried will be 12 stone
• To comply with regulations jockeys may have to participate in a training course (to be financed by the jockey). Details of those who are exempt are on the Rider Entry Form.
• Riders must be over the age of 16 to participate
• All jockeys to wear “colours”.
Sponsorship: To qualify all jockeys need to raise a minimum of £500 (hopefully more!) payable prior to the event. A special prize will be awarded to the jockey who obtains the most sponsorship. All the money raised will be going to the Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire Air Ambulance and the UCSW.
