Join our Board of Directors

Do you have the skills, experience and passion to play a part in driving our equestrian sector to become a place of only Good Employment? 

The British Grooms and Equestrian Employers Group (BGEEG) is the Non-Executive Board of Directors responsible for the British Grooms Association (BGA) and the Equestrian Employers Association (EEA). 

We have big ambitions, as explained in our BGA Strategy and EEA Strategy.

So to achieve our vision and plans, it is time for a big recruitment of NEDs to join our Board. This is your opportunity to play a critical part in bringing about the much-needed change in our industry. 

The roles are all on a voluntary basis and require no more than 1-2 hours per month of your time.

Board Secretary 

Do you have admin. skills and would like a voice in our work? This role would suit a parent or current/former groom.


People Director 

If you have HR experience this is a significant opportunity to influence change to make our industry a place of only Good Employment. 


Education Director

We are looking for an individual who has a good knowledge of the equestrian education landscape. 


Digital Director

Do you have experience with website production, CRMs and all things digital? 


Business Director

Our organisations are growing and we are looking for an experienced individual to help guide our sustainable growth.

What the personal accident policy covers you for:

  • Whilst at work
  • All stable duties – mucking out, grooming, washing off, turning out
  • Clipping
  • Riding – including hacking and jumping
  • Hunting
  • Lunging
  • Breaking in
  • Holding horse for a vet and other procedures
  • Travelling horses both in the UK and abroad
  • Competing in line with your job including: jumping, dressage, eventing
  • Injuries that may happen to you whilst you are teaching - but you must also be grooming as part of your duties and not be a sole instructor

What the personal accident policy doesn’t cover you for:

  • Riding in a race, point to point or team chase
  • Stunt Riding
  • Accidents occurring whilst travelling to and from work
  • Riding and competing your own horse (but you can upgrade when applying for membership to include this)
  • Public Liability – this is a separate insurance policy - the Freelance Groom Liability Insurance
  • Care Custody and Control – this is a separate policy - the Freelance Groom Liability Insurance
